OBITUARY

Marvin E. Dougharty Jr., LtCol, USAF (Ret), of Biloxi, MS died Thursday, June 9, 2011, in Biloxi.

Marvin was born in Crosby, Texas on August 29, 1938. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and Lee College in Baytown, Texas. He honorably served in the U. S. Air Force for 23 years. After completing 2½ years enlisted, Marvin was selected for USAF Office Candidate School Class 63-C and was commissioned as a second lieutenant upon graduation. 

He had been a resident of Biloxi since his retirement from the military in 1983.

Marvin was preceded in death by his father, Marvin E. Dougharty, Sr., mother, Frances Allen Hallmark and sister, Larua McBride. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gena Field Dougharty; two sons, Terrell M. (Sue) Dougharty of Saucier, and Brian Keith Dougharty of Biloxi; step-son, James E. Martin of Ocean Springs; two granddaughters, Hannah Caitlin Dougharty and Retta Grace Dougharty; grandsons, J. D. Martin, Andrew Martin, and Jamey Hill; brother-in-law, John H. Field of Biloxi; and sister-in-law, Carla M. Field of Atlanta. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

LtCol Dougharty was buried in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
