Johnny H. Hines

HinesBorn August 15, 1940, Prescott, Arkansas. Grades 1 through 12 there. Graduated High School May 1958. Attended 2 years Onachita Baptist College.

Joined USAF Sep. 1960. Basic training Lackland AFB. Airborne Radio/Radar Repairmen Tech School, Keesler AFB, MS. Graduated tech school Sep. 1, 1961. Married Brenda (high school sweetheart) Sep. 23, 1961. We have 2 sons and 4 grandchildren. After Tech school, assigned to maintenance squadron, James Connally AFB, TX, Oct. 1961 until OCS appointment Oct. 1962. After OCS, Pilot Training Reese AFB, TX, Class 64C. Upgrade school C-124 Tinker AFB, OK.

Assigned 28th MATS, Hill AFB, UT, Sep. 1964 to June 1966. Assigned to 322nd Air Division, Hywcomb Air Station, England as operations officer, from July 1966 to Dec. 1967. Last duty assignment Kelly AFB, TX Dec. 67 to Dec. 68.

Left active duty Dec. 15, 1968. Joined Active Reserve Mar. 1970, and retired Sep. 1984.

I was hired by Western Airlines in Feb. 1969 and retired from Delta Airlines Aug. 2000. (WAL merged with Delta in 1987.)

During my career, I flew C-124, DC3, C-130, C-141, Boeing 737, 727, 707, 720, 757, and 767.

In retirement, I enjoy golfing, gardening, traveling, playing with our four grandchildren and working in our church.
